Hands-On Manual Therapy Techniques

Skip Navigation LinksHome / Features / Hands-On Manual Therapy Techniques

At Hackensack Physical Therapy we utilize the most current manual therapy techniques. These are specialized skills performed on nerves, joints and muscles, used to treat orthopaedic and neurologic conditions.  These “hands on methods” are applied to the affected areas of your body to eliminate pain, relax muscles that are tight or in spasm, restore active range of motion, improve flexibility and restore your function.  These include:  joint and soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, neural mobilization, scar mobilizations, edema management, mobilizations with movement, muscle energy, to name a few.

Depending on the results of that assessment and each individual back pain patient's particular situation, the healthcare provider may perform some or a combination of the following types of manual physical therapy:

Soft Tissue Mobilization
Strain-Counterstrain
Joint Mobilization
Muscle Energy Techniques
High Velocity, Low Amplitude Thrusting
Maintaining Back Pain Relief Long-Term

Manual therapy is typically part of a complete treatment plan that is customized for your specific needs. Give us a call to learn how we can incorporate manual therapy into your rehabilitation program.
